Starr’s Mill Class of 2015
On Saturday, Nov. 3, many high school cross-country reams participated in their region meets. One of these meets was the region 4-AAAAA championship, hosted by Starr’s Mill at Heritage Christian Church. Eleven teams were at the meet including local teams such as McIntosh, Whitewater, and Starr’s Mill. This was the most important race of the year so far because only the top four male and female teams advanced to the state meet.
Final football games of regular season are Friday
The playoffs are here! The playoffs are here!
Well, sort of.
This is volleyball country
There are six classifications in the Georgia High School Association this year. If we count Landmark Christian School as part of Fayette County (which we do because the school is located close to the Fayette border and has numerous students from the county), there were four teams playing in state championships in three different classifications either Saturday or Monday.
Patriots win another region title, while Whitewater and Landmark win and McIntosh loses
Sandy Creek, the top ranked team in Class AAAA, hosted Carrollton, the fourth ranked team, tonight in a game to decide the region championship. It was pretty much decided in the third quarter when the Patriots got a 75 yard touchdown run from Delvin Weems, his second touchdown of the quarter, to take a 30-0 lead.
Four volleyball teams reach state finals
Four of the five local volleyball teams that made the state semifinals in their respective classifications will play for state championships. Sandy Creek and Landmark go for their titles on Saturday and McIntosh and Whitewater will tangle on Monday.
Big games this Friday with playoff implications
Northgate defeated Starr's Mill last week and hosts McIntosh in a game that will likely give the winner the third seed from the sub-region. Starr's Mill hosts Whitewater and the Panthers would like to try an end a tough season on a good note.
