McIntosh assistant coach Messer discusses life on the sidelines

Brian Messer has made a significant contribution to the community, being not only very involved with his job at Supreme Lending as the branch manager and senior loan officer, but also to the soccer programs in Fayette County. The McIntosh High School soccer program has been successful in recent years and coaches deserve credit where it’s due. Brian Messer, the varsity boys’ assistant coach, has been with the program since 2000 and also coaches youth girls for Peachtree City Lazers.
Messer’s soccer career started at the young age of five.
McIntosh boys beat Starr's Mill for region soccer title

Fans of Fayette county soccer have come to expect a great game every time the McIntosh and Starr’s Mill boys soccer teams meet and Tuesday night’s match certainly lived up to those expectations. McIntosh took home their 16th region championship in school history with a 4-2 victory over Starr’s Mill at the Panther’s stadium.

The Whitewater and McIntosh varsity girls soccer teams are very familiar with each other.
Region 3-AAAA soccer championships tomorrow night
The road to the state soccer playoffs and beyond goes through the schools located in Fayette County and both region championship games are rematches from earlier this year.
Starr's Mill sweeps McIntosh, boys win region title
Starr’s Mill’s boys and girls tennis teams topped McIntosh on last Thursday night.
The boys won 5-1. Winners for Starr’s Mill were Frank Rogers (6-1,6-2), Alex Borovsky (6-0,6-0), Blake Traeger/Jack Lloyd (7-6, 6-4), Sebastien Schneider/Evan Thorsen (4-6, 6-2, (10-6)) and John Traeger/Paul Balmes (8-3). McIntosh’s Austin Emmet won his match (6-4, 6-3).
Fayette teams seek wins,face tough competition in lacrosse
McIntosh’s varsity lacrosse team has picked up three tough losses recently. On Saturday, Apr. 7, they lost to Walton 12-10 and on Tuesday, Apr. 10 they lost to St. Pius X 10-6. On Saturday, Alpharetta, the second ranked team in Class AAAAA, beat them 16-6.
Teams punch tickets for state soccer playoffs
The level of soccer in the area is obviously very high. Fans would be hard pressed to remember a year that did not feature a team from Fayette County in the final or winning a championship. However, there is no such thing as a sure thing and the local coaches in region 3-AAAA were certain to remind their players of that when they opened the region playoffs Tuesday night.
Baseball teams making moves for playoffs
Yesterday, after the paper went to press, the final sub-region games of 3A-AAAA were played. One game was for bragging rights in a rivalry (Whitewater and Starr’s Mill) and the other was for the final spot in the region playoffs (McIntosh at Northgate).
Starr's Mill and McIntosh run well at Starr's Mill senior night meet
Starr’s Mill hosted a Senior Night track event last Thursday against McIntosh, Redan, Jones County and Dutchtown. The local teams did very well in the meet.
Region 3-AAAA girls soccer tournament starts tonight
The region 3-AAAA tournament gets started today and last year’s finalists from the Girls AAAA championship game, McIntosh and Whitewater, open with home games.
