football.jpgNot much went right for Sandy Creek in their game against Rome in the second round of the Class AAAA playoffs until the fourth quarter and by then, it was too late.

The Rome Wolves had a 14-0 lead at the half with one touchdown coming on a one yard touchdown run and another on a 35 yard touchdown pass. In the third quarter, Rome added a safety and then kicked a 32 yard field goal after getting one of their three interceptions in the game.

In the fourth quarter, the Sandy Creek offense came alive. Alex Green scored on a one yard touchdown run and quarterback Rio Johnson connected with Jarrett Davis on a 47 yard touchdown play. The Patriots trailed Rome 19-13 and had 30 seconds left to tie or win the game, but Rome intercepted a pass as time expired and hung on for the win.

Sandy Creek ended the season with a record of 11-1.
