Local players all over all state volleyball teams
A number of local volleyball players were named to the All State teams and two players were named player of the year for their classifications.
Whitewater, the Class AAAAA state champions, had four players named to the AAAAA all state team: Madison Akins (289 kills, 66 blocks), Abby Baker (489 digs), Annika Van Gunst (375 kills, 259 digs, 95.5 blocks) and Teegan Van Gunst (450 kills, 372 digs, 40.5 blocks), who was also AAAAA player of the year.
McIntosh had three players named to the AAAAA all state team: Breana Jones (245 kills, 107 blocks), Rhana Mitchell (334 digs, 320 kills) and Rhegan Mitchell (477 assists, 239 digs). McIntosh’s Ashley Young (186 kills, 56 blocks) was an honorable mention.
Sandy Creek, the Class AAAA state champions, had three players named to the AAAA all state team: Alexis Broadwater (906 assists, 167 digs), Sydney Wilson (265 kills, 72 blocks) and AAAA player of the year Allie Davenport (537 kills, 289 digs, 125 aces). Tori Sellers (150 kills, 74 digs) was an honorable mention.
Landmark Christian School, the Class A state champions, had one player on the Class A all state team: Tiffany Creamer (593 kills, 156 aces, 428 digs, 68 blocks). Our Lady of Mercy’s Mary Katherine Schmitz (393 assists,164 kills, 120 aces)was also on the Class A all state team.
