Last year the Bobcats of Our Lady of Mercy completed their first winning season in its ten year history and this season they are starting right where they left off.
The student body of Our Lady of Mercy gave Rashard Fant and Matthew Frank a warm round of applause after signing their letters of intent to play college football on national signing day.
Starr’s Mill’s swim team won its 13th consecutive county championship last Friday. Both the boys and girls finished in first place, while McIntosh’s boys and girls both placed second and Whitewater’s boys and girls placed third. Our Lady of Mercy placed fourth overall, followed by Fayette County and Sandy Creek.
Starr’s Mill hosted the annual Girls Night Out basketball showcase last Friday and Saturday and fans witnessed some top-notch basketball.

The local basketball teams came back from the holiday break last weekend and played games, many of them against region opponents.
The basketball season is underway and many teams started things off with games over the Thanksgiving break.
Four local teams played state playoff games last Friday night and three of them have moved on the quarterfinals in their respective divisions. Here is a preview of this week’s games.
There appeared to be a bit of a Thanksgiving hangover when Sandy Creek started their AAAA second round state playoff game with Dalton on Friday night.
Sandy Creek and Whitewater's football teams start their quests for state titles in football this Friday, while Landmark Christian and Our Lady of Mercy get another week to prepare. The matchups for Class A-Private will be set later this week.
