The AFC U15 Lightning Boys soccer team took second place in the Disney Soccer Showcase Tournament in Orlando, Fla. The boys played teams from Massachusetts, Texas, and Florida to make it to the championship game coming up just short against Chelsea of Georgia 2-1 to take the silver medal after a hard fought battle. The Disney Soccer Showcase is the ultimate place for top clubs to be seen by hundreds of college coaches looking for great soccer talent.

All Region 3-AAAA soccer teams were announced this week.

McIntosh's Gabby Seiler was selected as Region 3-AAAA Player of the Year.

The McIntosh Lady Chiefs struck first in the GHSA AAAA soccer state championship game at Whitewater and they struck last. The final strike, a penalty kick from Amanda Bartholomew in penalty kicks after two scoreless overtime periods, elevated McIntosh to their second straight state title and their eighth overall, defeating Whitewater 2-1 (6-5 PK).

It’s official. The AAAA Girls Soccer Championship will once again be between Whitewater and McIntosh. McIntosh, the reigning state champions, will try to defeat Whitewater, the region 3-AAAA champion, for the first time this season on Saturday.

Starr’s Mill Class of 2012

The Starr’s Mill boys soccer team has punched their ticket to the final four on the heels of a 3-2 victory Friday night. The Panthers responded to their shaky second round performance by playing a much better and cleaner game against the Northwest Whitfield Bruins, a team that came all the way from Tunnel Hill, Georgia.

The McIntosh Chiefs were unable to come up victorious against an undefeated squad from Lambert High School, losing 3-0 in the quarterfinal round of the GHSA AAAA State Playoffs.

The potential of a Fayette final still exists as Whitewater (17-0-1), ranked first in AAAA, and McIntosh (18-2-1), ranked third, won their quarterfinal matches on Saturday and advanced to the AAAA state soccer semifinals.
