Whitewater's Toler signs with Mississippi State

Mississippi State softball Head Coach Vann Stuedeman announced the signing of Georgia prep star Mackenzie Toler Tuesday. Toler, a 5-foot-9 left-handed pitcher and first baseman from
Fayetteville, Ga., registered a 0.60 ERA in the circle and recorded a .620 batting average at the plate during her senior season at Whitewater High School in Fayetteville. The left-hander is the fifth member of the 2013 signing class.

Whitewater softball makes it to Elite Eight

The Whitewater Lady Wildcats varsity softball team traveled to Jones County on Wednesday and swept the Lady greyhounds. The series win propels Whitewater to the Elite Eight in Columbus next Thursday.

Whitewater softball 4-0 in state playoffs

Whitewater started the Class AAAAA state playoffs on the road last week. They faced Thomas County Central, region champions of 1-AAAAA, and won both games to advance to a second round match-up with Jones County yesterday.

Whitewater’s varsity softball team (20-10-1) placed fourth in the region tournament last week. That being said, it is a very tough region.

Softball teams looking for big wins

The Fayette County Lady Tigers softball team lost to Shaw last Thursday 8-1 in a region matchup. Tomorrow at 5 p.m. they get another region game when they host Carrollton.

McIntosh went 2-1 over the last two weeks with a 9-0 loss to Pike County sandwiched between a 15-0 win over Mt. Zion, Jonesboro and an 18-0 win over Drew. The Lady Chiefs get a big test today when they host Whitewater at 5:30 p.m. They will follow it with an away game at Forest Park tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.

Whitewater and Starr's Mill start softball season strong
