Soccer titles are back in the sights for several local soccer teams.
McIntosh and Starr’s Mill’s boys tennis teams have advanced to the Class AAAA quarterfinals.
Four local lacrosse teams entered the state playoffs this week and only one survived.
The region 5-AAAA boys track meet was held Monday and Tuesday at Sandy Creek High School. McIntosh placed second to Alexander, while Sandy Creek placed third, Whitewater finished in fifth and Starr’s Mill placed sixth. Fayette County placed 10th overall.
Region 5-AAAA has been broken into sub-regions. The local teams are in 5A-AAAA and teams like Alexander, Villa Rica, Mays and Lithia Springs are in 5B-AAAA. The top four varsity baseball teams from each sub-region met this week with entrance into the state playoffs on the line. The four local teams swept their opponents.

The second round of the state soccer playoffs start tomorrow and there are a number of local teams still active and seeking a spot in the quarterfinals.
The all area team for boys lacrosse was announced this week.
Sandy Creek’s varsity baseball team (17-5) stayed hot with an 11-6 win over Mays on Wednesday.
